• New thinking sought to increase automation of key railway infrastructure installation

HS2 is gearing up for the next phase of delivery by beginning the search for more UK-based companies to help build its fleet of new high speed trains.

Jobseekers and career changers who want to work in construction are encouraged to register for a new two-week pre-employment programme that could lead to an apprenticeship with HS2’s construction partner, Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall (EKFB).

Ealing Council Leader, Cllr Peter Mason and Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, Lead Member for Decent Living Incomes, visited the Old Oak Common site where HS2 is building its new superhub station to see how the construction programme is supporting local residents into training and employment.

• HS2 has been granted Schedule 17 consent by Birmingham City Council for a 150-metre-long superstructure which will carry high speed trains into the city’s new Curzon Street Station.
