University students who live, or study, in the Midlands are being offered the chance to join HS2’s construction partner Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) on an eight-week paid work placement this summer.

An aspiring engineer from Nigeria is climbing the career ladder and helping to build Britain’s new railway after being handed a one-off opportunity by Bachy Soletanche, a specialist geotechnics contractor working on HS2, with Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering.

Talented graduates have just two weeks left to apply for one of 40 places on HS2 Ltd’s coveted two-year graduate training programme, which begins in September 2023.

• In a huge feat of engineering, HS2 Ltd has delivered the world’s longest box slide to move a 12,600 tonne bridge into place over the M42 in Warwickshire.
• The innovative method dramatically cuts disruption to road users and is part of HS2’s plan to reduce the impact of construction on local communities.
• 450 people worked on the operation during the Christmas week – the quietest time on the roads.

HS2 Ltd, the company delivering Britain’s new zero carbon high speed railway linking the North, the Midlands and the South, has today (21st December 2022) launched its search for 40 talented graduates to join its 2023 programme.
